Leyendas
Buenas a todos, os dejo una pequeña leyenda que nos acerca al gaélico y al hurling, os familiarizaréis con ambas cosas durante vuestra estancia!
Cú Chulainn
Long ago, Setanta was a young boy who wanted to be a warrior of the Tuatha de Danann. He was a very strong and very clever boy. He was a happy child who played hurling (the national sport of Ireland) with his friends. His team always won because he was such a good player.
He went to stay with his uncle King Conor to train to be a warrior of the T
uatha de Danann. One day he was invited to a party at
Culainn’s castle. He was late arriving because he had been playing a game of hurling. When he got to the castl
e there was a wolfhound guarding it. The dog attacked Setanta. Setanta hit the ball and killed Culainn’s hound. Culainn heard the dog’s cry and ran out. He was sorry that his dog was dead, but glad that Setanta was alright. Setanta said he would guard the castle for Culainn. He was given a new name – Cú Chulainn, which means the hound of Culainn.
So that’s how Cú Chulainn got his name. Soon he became the best guard of all and joined the knights. He was one of the best Tuatha de Danann ever.
